2011 Gallardo LP570-4 Blancpain

Automobili Lamborghini and Blancpain are uniting their phenomenal engineering skill and honoring the huge success of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo racing series with a very special super sports car: the new Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Blancpain Edition.

This extraordinary super sports car joins the competition spirit of the Super Trofeo race car with an exclusive design and one hundred percent road-going usability. The first Gallardo from the exclusive and limited Blancpain Edition production run has been presented by Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, and Marc A. Hayek, President and CEO of Blancpain, at the final race weekend of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo on Sunday September 26, 2010 in the "Piero Taruffi" circuit, Vallelunga.

Automobili Lamborghini, the manufacturer of extreme Italian super sports cars, and Blancpain, the world's oldest luxury watchmaker, are among the very best brands in their respective sectors worldwide. Blancpain was recently voted the "Best of the Best" among the world's most exquisite watch brands by the "Luxury Institute" in New York. Now the two brands have come together to develop a unique blend of technology and design to create the Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Blancpain Edition, putting the power of the world's fastest mono-marque race series into a road-legal vehicle.

Blancpain is the title sponsor of the successful Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo series. The cooperation between these two brands brings together the highest levels of engineering excellence from the automotive and chronometry industries. Blancpain has been producing innovative masterpieces of watch-making art in Switzerland's Vallée de Joux since 1735. Each timepiece is assembled by one single watchmaker, reflecting the quality and individual attention with which Lamborghini builds its super sports cars for the road, and its 570 hp Super Trofeo race cars.

Both brands share an enormous passion for racing. Blancpain is not only intensely involved with the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo, but is also official timekeeper for the FIA GT1 World Championship - where Lamborghini cars also compete against other prestigious marques. In July, Lamborghini secured its first win in the newly-formed championship at the iconic Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium, where former Formula One driver Riccardo Zonta and Frank Kechele charged to a first-place finish.

"Lamborghini is extremely happy about its cooperation with Blancpain. In just its second year, the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo has established itself in the premier league of gentlemen's racing," says Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini. "Each race is a battle of dedication and passion for every single hundredth of a second - something that characterizes both of our brands. The Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Blancpain Edition demonstrates the close bond between our road-going super sports cars and the race car."

"This is a very intense and dynamic partnership between companies from highly disparate sectors, but with the same drive for innovation and mechanical excellence," says Marc A. Hayek, President and CEO of Blancpain. "For me, Blancpain has always been a true revolutionary - even a little crazy - with the spirit of adventure. We have always tried to be a little different, to remain innovative and to attempt things that no-one had ever achieved before. This pursuit of excellence is a passion that is shared by Blancpain and Lamborghini," continues Hayek. "Lamborghini is indisputably a first-class manufacturer with the highest levels of engineering competence, which is why the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo offers a perfect platform for attracting even more attention to our brand around the world."

Marc A. Hayek is not only President and CEO of Blancpain, he is also a passionate and accomplished race driver. He has already claimed several victories in the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo, and is currently fighting for the podium in the Pro-Am Drivers' Standings.

In this special configuration, the Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Blancpain Edition shows the spirit of competition - the mighty rear spoiler for maximum stability and the engine cover for optimized ventilation were derived directly from the race car featured in the world's fastest one-make series. The Edition is also equipped with Skorpius wheels with yellow-painted brake calipers and discs made, of course, from carbon-ceramic composite. One striking visual feature that fits perfectly with the matt black paintwork is the carbon-fiber used to make external components, such as the diffuser and mirror casings.

The interior of the Blancpain Edition further reinforces the extremely sporty character of the Gallardo without sacrificing the comfort of the driver and passenger. The entire interior is finished in black Alcantara with yellow accents and visible carbon-fiber. The Blancpain logo is placed on the exterior and also featured on the seats and cockpit in yellow stitching. Propulsion for the Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Blancpain Edition comes courtesy of the 570 hp V10 power unit from the series Superleggera production car - as is the case for the Super Trofeo race car. Superb traction from the all-wheel drive ensures perfect stability in every situation.

The super sports car from Sant'Agata Bolognese boasts a dry weight of no more than 1340 kilograms (2954 lb) - the lightest road-going model in Lamborghini's range.

One key factor is the exterior and interior components made from carbon-fiber. Carbon-fiber is ideal for the manufacture of sports cars as its use allows for weight reduction and improved mechanical features. The car's performance is thus enhanced thanks to a better power-to-weight ratio and reduced total mass, which means that CO2 emissions are also lower.

The V10 power unit with 5.2 liters (317.6 cu in) of displacement generates 419 kW (570 hp) in the Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Blancpain Edition. This puts the power-to-weight ratio of the vehicle at only 2.35 kilograms (5.18 lb) per hp and guarantees breathtaking performance. This super sports car handles the dash from zero to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.4 seconds and flies past the 200 km/h (124 mph) mark only 6.8 seconds later, ultimately exceeding 320 km/h (199 mph).

Even more dynamic, lighter, more powerful and stunning - the Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera is the new top model in the Gallardo line-up. Its evocative "superlight" badge refers to a driving machine of true sporting character and describes a high-performance and lean automotive athlete. The Superleggera makes its entrance to continue the success of its predecessor, launched in 2007, of which Lamborghini produced and sold no less than 618 in just one year.

Compared with the already lean Gallardo LP560-4, the weight of the Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera has been trimmed by 70 kilograms (154 lb). The super sportscar from Sant'Agata Bolognese boasts a dry weight of no more than 1340 kilograms (2954 lb) - the lightest road-going model in Lamborghini's range, and a new arrival in one of the most exclusive market niche segments.

Citroen has released first details for the new Citroën DS4, a unique and attractive blend of creativity, dynamism, exclusivity and versatility. DS4 is the second model in Citroën's distinctively-styled DS line.

Citroen DS4 brings an alluring mixture of premium design codes and a bold approach to automotive styling, with an emphasis on driving pleasure and advanced vehicle architecture. DS4 is a model with a multitude of talents, effortlessly responding to a broad range of owner needs, while enhancing the appeal and vitality of the motoring experience.

Citroen DS4 combines sophistication and refinement with a dynamic coupé-like body, creating exceptional versatility and day-to-day practicality within a compact design - 4.27m (l), 1.81m (w) & 1.53m (h).

Citroen DS4 delivers a new "at-the-wheel" experience with unrivalled driving sensations and outstanding agile on-road handling. With its slightly raised stance and taut lines, Citroën DS4 is a unique and eye-catching addition to the segment.

Finely crafted to convey a prestigious presence both inside and out, Citroën DS4 offers meticulous detailing from carefully applied chrome touches to premium cabin materials - such as the finest quality leather seats. A large panoramic windscreen, offering enhanced occupant visibility, illuminates the driver-focused cockpit, creating a bright and welcoming environment.

Combining coupé style with 2+2 door practicality, Citroën DS4 offers three full-sized rear seats, accessed by rear doors with hidden handles that are seamlessly integrated into the body's flowing lines. Citroën DS4 also benefits from a capacious 370-litre boot and a host of clever storage solutions.

Citroen DS4 comes with a choice of five refined and efficient engines - two HDi diesels and three petrol powerplants.

All engines deliver a combination of powerful performance - including a new to Citroën 200hp petrol unit - and ecologically sensitive motoring. Citroën's new e-HDi drivetrains for example deliver improved fuel economy and lower CO2 emissions.

Citroen DS4 will be revealed at the 2010 Paris Motor Show and is expected to go on sale later in 2011.

UNIQUE STYLING
An example of truly creative design, Citroën DS4 boldly blends a mix of the most desirable styling references to create an exciting new automotive proposition. Marc Pinson, DS4's chief stylist, comments, "Reinterpreting cues opened up new possibilities, bringing practical and surprising solutions to automotive mobility".

Compact and muscular, the DS signature on the bonnet is complemented by a striking LED light signature around the front fog lights. The LEDs are illuminated both day and night. The eye-catching profile, featuring a chrome-finished waistline surrounding dark tinted windows, is enhanced by muscular wheel arches - that emphasise the large wheels (up to 19") - and is crowned by a tautly drawn roofline with a spoiler for added vitality. The lower part of the rear bumper is finished in chrome and the horizontal detailing on the rear light clusters highlights their innovative boomerang design.

TAILORED INTERIOR
As with its prestigious exterior, Citroen DS4's cabin exudes power, dynamism and refinement. The driving position is enveloping, with chrome-surround dials focused directly towards the driver's eye-line. The characterful, sculptured dashboard also uses high quality materials for a superior tactile feel.

DS4's cabin is dominated by the large panoramic windscreen that extends backwards into the roofline. Offering up to 45° of upward vision, the panoramic glazed area combines with Citroën DS4's slightly raised stance, to provide optimised visibility for the driver, with a bright yet intimate, airy cabin environment for passengers.

Allowing owners to personalise the interior, DS4 is available with a choice of five leather combinations, including two-tone options. Range-topping models are also equipped with high quality leather on the dashboard and door panels - complete with a 'Bracelet' design on the seats, evoking the links of a watch strap.

For an added touch of luxury, there is chrome detailing on the air vent surrounds, instrument cluster, gear lever and parts of the central console. Aluminium pedals, embossed leather door handles and ambient lighting are further evidence of Citroën DS4's attention to premium detail.

NATURALLY DYNAMIC & AGILE
With its high-set, taut and agile stance, Citroen DS4 is tuned for dynamic performance, appealing to drivers looking for an involving motoring experience. "We really wanted drivers to feel like they have the road at the tips of their fingers", says Jérémie Maestracci, DS4's project manager.

On the road, Citroen DS4 exercises exemplary control, giving occupants a reassuring sense of safety in all circumstances. Fitted with a MacPherson type suspension assembly at the front, a flexible transverse beam at the rear and hydraulic steering with an electric pump unit, the platform is a tried and tested solution tailored for the distinctive set-up of the car.

Depending on trim level, DS4 is fitted with large-diameter (340mm) ventilated disc brakes and, as standard, with dedicated braking control systems, including ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) and Emergency Brake Assist (EBA). Ensuring optimal vehicle control in the most demanding driving situations, Citroën DS4 also features intelligent traction control with ESP.

DS4 will be launched with a choice of five refined and highly efficient Euro 5 engines. The two HDi diesels - an HDi 110 (also available as an e-HDi version) and an HDi 160 - are both fitted with Citroën's Diesel Particulate Filter System. The three petrol powerplants - VTi 120, THP 155 and the new THP 200 - were co-developed with BMW. The new THP 200 - based on the 1.6-litre engine - delivers flexible power delivery and performance thanks to its power output (147kW), plentiful torque (275Nm at 1,700rpm) - with low CO2 emissions of just 149g/km. All engines are available with manual or EGS six-speed gearboxes.

Special attention has been given to the car's internal acoustics, retaining the refined atmosphere on-board by minimising engine vibration, wind and road noise. This has been achieved by specifying a laminated panoramic windscreen with damping film, fitting additional sound absorbent material around the engine compartment and enhanced sealing barriers on the body and doors.

EXPERTLY EFFICIENT
Citroen DS4 was designed from the start to have a reduced environmental footprint - especially evident in its construction - by using top-quality components, an ecologically focused manufacturing process and the use of 'green materials' - around 15% of the 200kg of plastic used in DS4 vehicle is derived from 'green materials.'

Citroen DS4 can be specified with Citroen's micro-hybrid e-HDi technology, which is available from launch on versions powered by the HDi 110 engine.

The e HDi system comprises of:
= an economical HDi Euro 5 diesel power plant
= a new generation Stop & Start system, which instantly cuts out the engine when the car comes to a halt (red lights, traffic jams).
= a second-generation reversible alternator and an e-booster function that restarts the engine instantly (0.4 seconds)
= an electronically controlled alternator that recovers energy during braking;
= an Electronic Gearbox System (EGS) with optimised gear changes.

All required features such as the radio, air-conditioning and steering functions remain in operation when the engine is stopped by the system. This innovative technology can reduce the fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by as much as 15% in built-up urban environments.

DAY-TO-DAY PLEASURE
Citroen DS4's compact exterior belies a spacious and luxuriously comfortable cabin, which can be easily accessed by the car's 2+2 door layout. To make it easier to access the rear seats - often seen as a weak point for some sporty models - DS4 features seamlessly integrated rear doors with handles hidden in the door frames.

Thanks to its optimised design, the front doors of Citroën DS4 have been made narrower and lighter, making them easier to open and close, promoting easy access at the front.

Another asset in terms of versatility and roominess is DS4's 370-litre (VDA) boot, which is similar in volume to that of many conventional saloons.

Citroen DS4 also has numerous storage compartments for extra travelling comfort, including a large, well lit glove box; door pockets big enough for 1.5-litre bottles; and even a drawer under the front passenger seat. The intelligent architecture of the high-level central console (available on models fitted with EGS) also provides spacious storage areas. The largest of these - which is cooled, illuminated and protected by a sliding cover - can hold up to four 50-cl bottles and houses a connectivity area with an audio-jack, a USB port and a 12-volt socket. The large compartment located under the front armrest also features an additional power source.

CREATIVE TECHNOLOGIE ON-BOARD
Beyond its distinctive styling and dynamic performance, Citroen DS4's cabin overflows with 'Créative Technologie', providing equipment, functionality and innovative features for first-class travelling comfort and ultimate user convenience. Features available include an advanced audio system with processing software for effective soundscaping, delivering high quality, authentic sound evenly throughout the cabin. For ultimate driving luxury, massaging front seats are available with electric lumbar adjustment in the front passenger's and driver's seat backs.

Another example of the tailored DS4 experience, drivers can select their own on-board ambience from four ranges of polyphonic sounds - Classic, Crystal Symphony, Jungle Fantasy & Urban Rythmik - for alerts and reminders; select from three air-conditioning flow levels - soft, average & intense; and choose from an array of colours for the instrument panel - spanning from white to blue.

Drivers can access all key driving and comfort controls - which are clearly visible and even backlit for night-time use - without taking their hands off the wheel.

For complete peace-of-mind, Citroen DS4 is also equipped with a range of safety-enhancing technologies:

* The Citroen eTouch Assistance System automatically or manually makes emergency or assistance calls, using a built-in SIM card, for rapid intervention in the event of an accident or if the car is immobilised.
* Front fog lamps with static cornering lights provide an extra beam that increases visibility when turning - by up to 75° to the left and right of the vehicle. The lights automatically illuminate when the driver indicates or turns the wheel to an angle of more than 60°.
* A blind-spot monitoring system - based on the same technology as reversing parking sensors - the four ultrasound sensors alert the driver if a vehicle is in their blind spot ( an area stretching to around 5m behind the rear bumper and 3.5m from each side of the car). The driver is alerted by means of a pictogram displayed in the wing mirrors.
* Programmable cruise control with speed limiter also allows drivers to pre-set cruising and top speeds for added safety and convenience on the open road.

FIRST-CLASS SERVICE
When launched, DS4 will be available with first-class customer service. Citroën FreeDrive, first introduced with DS3, is a distinctive package for Citroën DS4 owners, providingcomplete peace-of-mind with an extensive range of services that can be personalised to meet the specific needs of the customer. FreeDrive contracts can be tailored to cover:

= scheduled and annual servicing
= periodic maintenance
= replacement of wear and tear items
= Citroën Assistance (Roadside/At Home/Recovery/Onward Travel/European Cover)
= replacement vehicle during regular servicing, MOT Testing
= valet cleaning during servicing.

FreeDrive also offers optional tyre replacement cover, a 'Pick-up' service from the customer's home or workplace, or a 'Pick-up & Delivery' service.

The styling project for the DS line has been led by British designer, Mark Lloyd. Beginning with the DS3, the new DS line will deliver a powerful identity to the Citroën family. Representing "Different Spirit", it will present an identity strong on modernity and distinction, drawing its DNA clearly from Citroën's history of innovation and unforgettable design.

KLEEMANN Mercedes-Benz SLK 55K S8 (2005)

KLEEMANN Mercedes-Benz SLK 55K S8 (2005)

Kleemann SLK 55K S8 Based on the New SLK 55 AMG
Kleemann presents yet another high-performance car without comparison. Based on the new SLK 55 AMG from Mercedes-Benz, Kleemann produces a power output of 596 bhp and 568 lb-ft with a Kleemann Kompressor System and a Stage 8 engine upgrade. The Kleemann SLK 55K S8 has an electronic speed limit of 300 km/h (186 mph) and hits 62 mph in just 3.7 seconds.

The power source in the SLK roadster is a specially revised version of the eight-cylinder Mercedes-Benz NA (Normally Aspirated) 5.5 litre engine. Equipped with only the Kleemann Kompressor system the engines power output raises from standard 360 bhp and 376 lb-ft to an impressive 550 bhp and 530 lb-ft.

Additionally the SLK 55K S8 is fitted with the Kleemann Stage 8 tuning kit. The engines ECU is reprogrammed and application specific super sport camshafts are fitted. To further improve the engines gas flow the 5.5 litre V8-engine is fitted with custom-developed headers in stainless steel and a complete dual 70 mm stainless steel exhaust system utilizing four steel racing catalysts. As the finishing touch to it all, the Kleemann SLK 55K S8 is fitted with two Trapezoid-shaped rear mufflers.

After the full tuning conversion from Kleemann the eight-cylinder engine delivers a maximum power output of 596 bhp / 438 kW at 5800 rpm and even more important for the overall driving characteristic is the peak torque of 568 lb-ft available from 2000 rpm. This incredible power is routed through a custom-made Kleemann Limited Slip Differential (LSD) which applies a 60 percent lock-up ratio between the rear wheels. This modification is essential for maximum traction of the driven wheels and the fantastic acceleration figures for this car.

The power treatment pushes the SLK roadster far beyond normal sports car territory. Not many super cars are able to accelerate from standstill to 62 mph in just 3.7 seconds and 125 mph in 12.3 seconds, but the Kleemann SLK 55K S8 does so without any drama. Like all other high-performance Kleemann cars the top speed is electronically limited to 300 km/h (186 mph).

To meet the enormous performance potential of the Kleemann SLK 55K S8, Kleemann has developed exceptional upgrades in terms of wheels, suspension and brakes.

The Kleemann SLK 55K S8 comes with a choice between the classic two-piece TM-5 and the three-piece forged TS-6 light alloy wheel, which can be fitted on the car in sizes ranging from 17- to 19-inches in diameter. The largest possible combination on the SLK 55K S8 is the Kleemann TS-6 alloy wheel in size 8.5JX19 for the front axle with 235/35 ZR 19 tires, and 9.5JX19 with 275/30 ZR 19 tires on the rear. The special shape of the TS-6 rim star augments aerodynamics as it exhausts the air from underneath the car. In addition to reducing lift this also increases cooling of the brakes and adds to the handling and stability of the vehicle.

To further increase the cars handling characteristics Kleemann has fitted the car with Kleemann Speed Sensitive Suspension which reduces body roll and increases the cars turn-in capability. Designed specifically for use with sporty low-profile tires it's a perfect combination of agile cornering and extraordinary ride comfort.

The safety aspect is handled by the Kleemann high performance brake system, which is designed for maximum performance under the most extreme braking tasks. Fitted with the largest KB-3 Kleemann high performance brake system the Kleemann SLK 55K S8 features 396 x 36 mm vented and cross-drilled two-piece brake discs with six piston forged and handmade calipers in the front, and 342 x 28 mm vented and cross-drilled two-piece brake discs with four piston forged and handmade calipers in the rear.

For further refinement of the sporty two-seater Kleemann can fit aerodynamic parts that emphasize the cars striking appearance. The cars front design becomes even more muscular with the low and stunning looking Kleemann front spoiler lip. To round of the visual look a custom developed rear diffuser panel is fitted making provision for the Kleemann sport exhaust system with one Trapezoid shaped rear muffler in each side.

Another focal point of refining the Kleemann SLK 55K S8 is the interior. Kleemann offers an extensive programme for the sporty roadster ranging from full leather to a combined leather/alcantara interior. The Kleemann program also includes a wide selection of individual accessories such as illuminated entrance panels with Kleemann logo, and an ergonomic Kleemann sport steering wheel with a choice of leather, leather/wood or leather/carbon. The finishing touch to the interior is genuine carbon inlays on the dashboard, centre console and door covers which creates a sporty yet comfortable and exclusive feeling.

KLEEMANN D-SCK Concept (2008)

KLEEMANN D-SCK Concept

Kleeman D-SCK Concept Revealed - More Euro Flavored Vaporware
Specialist Mercedes-Benz tuners Kleemann has released pictures of the D-SCK concept car based on the Kleemann GTK which in itself it based on the baby Mercedes roadster SLK-class.

Apparently, the Danish Mercedes Benz tuning haus Kleeman can't get enough of making up supercars. We told you all about the Kleeman GTK a couple of months ago and we haven't seen hide nor halfshaft of the car, but that doesn't mean they can't drop the sheet on the Kleeman D-SCK concept. Designed as the rear engined sister car to the GTK, the D-SCK was styled by student Jesper Hermann and revealed at the Danish Auto Show last week. Revealed as in digital images shown, not sheet metal. Why do these cars give us the feeling there are Nigerian bankers seated on Kleemans executive board? (By Ben Wojdyla)

- - -

The Danish tuners at Kleemann have already shown us how they've reinterpreted the Mercedes-Benz SLK in the form of the Kleemann GTK. And while the pseudo-exotic's tuned SLK 55 AMG engine (540 hp and 516 lb.-ft.), eight-piston brakes and carbon fiber panels do their best to up the performance quotient, the restyled sheet metal lost the concept a few cool points.

Now, Christian Brandt, the designer behind the GTK, has released images of the D-SCK Concept that takes several of the cues shown on their first bespoke concept and ported them over to create a more sleek, mid-engine ride. There's no word on what will be powering the imaginary supercar, but with Kleemann's ties to M-B, something with eight cylinders and forced induction isn't out of the question. However, there's a fair amount of doubt that the D-SCK will ever see the light of day. (by Damon Lavrinc)

KLEEMANN Mercedes-Benz C 20K (2005)
New Aerodynamic Parts for Kleemann Mercedes-Benz C-Class
Furthermore the spoiler has two built-in air ducts that provides cooling for the front brakes.

The stylish front spoiler is manufactured from high quality materials and designed to easily fit the stock bumper which remains intact and in comply with safety regulations.

The rear spoiler for the C-Class features a diffuser panel - a Kleemann trademark that adds the right touch of sport to the elegant saloon. The shape of the spoiler perfectly matches the trapezoid shaped Kleemann tail pipe.

The new aerodynamic component kit is introduced on the Kleemann C20K however it fits all C-Class vehicles (W203) except from the C55 AMG.

The Kleemann C20K is a perfect car in the category of small sport saloons. The car is powered by a 1.8 litre 4 cylinder compressor engine. Fitted with the Kleemann Performance kit, power output is increased from 163 Hp to 210 Hp and the torque curve peaks at 300 Nm compared to 240 Nm on the standard engine.

The increased engine power is combined with a Kleemann "Speed Sensitive Suspension" consisting of lower and harder springs and progressive dampers for better handling, higher curve stability and reduced body roll.

235/35-ZR19 tires are fitted on 8.5x19 inch wheels for the front axle and 265/35-ZR-19 tires are fitted on 9.5x19 inch wheels for the rear axle. The C20K can be mounted with the TM-5 wheel or the sportier TS-6 wheel.

The suspension and wheel package ensures great driving dynamics without compromising the ride comfort.

Comfort is definitely a key word for the interior modifications carried out on the C20K.

Illuminated logo branded entrance panels welcome you when entering the car. Stock upholstery has been replaced with leather/Alcantara seats featuring a single Kleemann metal logo. The ergonomically shaped steering wheel is leather covered with small inlays of carbon fibre as an option. Carbon fibre also covers the dashboard and panels in the cabin for an exclusive look and feel with a sporty touch.

MERCEDES BENZ Shooting Break Concept (2010)

Click Thumbnail to download (size 1600 x 1200 pixels)

The Mercedes-Benz Shooting Break concept car represents a clear indication of the further emotional appeal of the Mercedes design idiom. In October 2004 Mercedes-Benz established a new market segment with the four-door Coupé CLS. In September 2008, the brand revealed a fresh and exciting interpretation of the emotionally-appealing Coupé-based design in the form of the FASCINATION concept car. Now making its premiere at Auto China 2010 is the Mercedes-Benz Shooting Break concept car - a further insight by Mercedes designers into the possible future development of the Coupé concept.

Wide and flat, with a long bonnet and a roof which continues through to the rear: the Mercedes-Benz Shooting Break concept car features some astonishing proportions which at the same time are clearly reminiscent of another design icon - the CLS. The design of the front is completely new, but makes use of elements which are mindful of the SLS AMG super sports car: the radiator grille, with the large star and eye-catching, bionic slats, is not integrated into the bonnet but has been designed separately in the form of a "soft nose". The grille is flanked on each side by full LED headlamps, which for the first time feature LED technology for all of the usual dynamic light functions. The side profile is given a touch of dynamism thanks to the high, exaggerated beltline sweeping towards the rear, and the dramatic character line which is supported by the powerful-looking rear wheel arches. The coupé-like side view is also emphasised with a low window design which also highlights the greenhouse with polished aluminium trim.
